THE INFORMATION BELOW IS ASSCOCIATED WITH THE CHEER AGE GRID

The maximum size for a team is 32 competitors on the floor for the 2016-2017 season, except for Levels 5 & 6 as noted.

The age of the competitor as of 31st August 2016 will be the age used for the competition purposes throughout the 2016-2017 season for all divisions.

We recognise the concern with fielding teams of a broad age range and highly recommend that individual gyms/programs be vigilent in monitoring participants of various ages on the same team and that, whenever possible, a team's composition is made up of participants of similar ages.

*University Divisions

All members are 18 years old (on August 31st 2016) or older and 90% of the team are current students at the named university. 10% of the team can be past students/alumni, if they have graduated from the named university within the past 4 years. University divisions will be offered at UK University Nationals only. At all other events, University teams will enter the Open divisions. NEW THIS YEAR: For UK University Nationals only, teams will be required to submit a copy of each registered athletes official University photo ID card prior to the event. ID cards will also be checked on admission to warm-up.

Senior 5 & Senior Restricted 5/Junior 5 & Junior Restricted 5

Senior Restricted Level 5 and Senior Level 5 divisions may not be combined into one division. Junior Restricted Level 5 and Junior Level 5 divisions may not be combined into one divisions.

Co-Ed Combining

For Junior Co-ed Level 5, if there is only ONE co-ed competing, then the all girl and one co-ed team must be combined into one Junior Level 5 division (i.e. Four Junior Level 5 teams and one Junior co-ed Level 5 team = 5 Junior Level 5 teams for competition). If the Junior teams were split into Small and Large, then the Co-ed team must be placed with the teams closest to its size.

For Senior Co-Ed Levels 3 & 4, if there is only ONE co-ed competing in a respective level, then that level must be combined into one Senior division (i.e. Four Senior Level 3 teams and one Senior Co-ed Level 3 team = Five Senior Level 3 teams for competition). If the Senior teams were split into Small and Large, then the Co-Ed team must be placed with the teams closest to its size.

The athletes who perform a routine must remain the same from start to finish and MAY NOT be replaced by another athlete at anything during the performance.

** SPECIAL NEEDS TEAMS

Special Needs teams are limited to Level 2 Rules, in addition to the no basket tosses permitted.

WHEN TO SPLIT DIVISIONS:

SMALL/LARGE SPLITS

Future Cheer WILL split the division into 'Small' and 'Large' divisions when there are at least two teams that will ultimately be registered in each respective division. The designation of Small and Large divisions must follow the team sizes below:

Small = 5-20 members

Large = 21-32 members (36 for Level 5 & 6)

Future Cheer will split divisions first by size (when applicable) and then by co-ed vs all-girl (when applicable only for Senior Restricted 5 and Level 4.2).

SMALL/MEDIUM/LARGE SPLITS - For Senior Level 5 only

Future Cheer WILL split the Senior Level 5 division into 'Small' and or 'Medium' and/or 'Large' divisions when there are at least two teams that will ultimately be registered in each respective division. The designation of Small, Medium and Large divisions must follow the team sizes below:

Small = 5-20 members

Medium = 21-30 members

Large = 31-36 members

Future Cheer will keep teams of 21-36 members in 'Large' division, unless there are enough teams to split 2 teams each into 'Medium' and 'Large'.

A/B SPLITS

If after splitting divisions into 'Small' and 'Large' ('Medium' for Senior Level 5) there are 10 or more teams in the 'Small' or 'Large' division, then Future Cheer will split that division further by squad size. If splitting further by size, Future cheer will use a name such as 'Division A', 'Division B' to denote the split and will clearly define the number of competitors permitted on the team for each of these particular divisions. If it is not possible to split into 'Small' and 'Large', because there is only one 'Large' team and multiple 'Small' teams (or vice versa), then Future Cheer will split a division using the above guidelines if the division has 10 or more teams.

No division may be subdivided further from the 'Small', 'Large', or 'Medium (Senior Level 5) classification if it means that only one team will be left in a division.

Future Cheer will split divisions first by size (when applicable) and then by co-ed vs all-girl (when applicable only for Senior Restricted 5, Junior Restricted 5 and Level 4.2). If a division cannot be split by size (i.e. 5 total teams comprised of 4 small and 1 large), but can be split into co-ed vs all girl with at least two teams remaining in each division, then Future Cheer may make this split at our discretion, despite not having split the division into small and large.

CO-ED SPLITS

After splitting divisions by size, (if possible) Future Cheer will only split Senior restricted Level 5 into Senior Restricted Level 5 and Senior Restricted Co-ed 5 or Junior Restricted Level 5 and Junior Co-ed Restricted Level 5 when there are at least two teams that will ultimately be registered in each respective division. After splitting divisions by size, Future Cheer will only split Senior Level 4.2 into Senior and Senior Co-Ed Level 4.2 when there are at least two teams that will ultimately be registered in each respective division.

Future Cheer will split divisions first by size (when applicable) and then by co-ed vs all-girl (when applicable only for Senior restricted 5 and Level 4.2) No other division will be split into co-ed. If a division cannot be split by size (i.e. 5 total teams comprised of 4 small and 1 large), but can be split into co-ed vs all girl with at least two teams remaining in each division, then Future Cheer may make this split at our discretion, despite not having split the division small and large.

SENIOR or JUNIOR RESTRICTED SPLITS

Future Cheer will split these divisions into Small Senior Restricted and Large Senior Restricted, and then Senior or Junior Restricted or Junior Restricted Co-Ed when there are at least two teams that will ultimately be registered in each respective division.

Future Cheer will split divisions first by size (when applicable) and then by co-ed vs all girl (when applicable). If a division cannot be split by size (i.e. 5 total teams comprised of 4 small and 1 large), but can be split into co-ed vs all girl with at least two teams remaining in each division, then Future Cheer may make this split at our discretion, despite not having split the division into small and large.

SPLIT EXCEPTIONS

Teams from the same gym/program will not have to compete against themselves if they have a 'Small' and 'Large' team in the same division (i.e. Small Junior Level 2 and Large Junior Level 2). A mandatory split in the division would occur in this situation; even if it means that a division is left with only one team performing.

CROSSOVERS

An individual may crossover from one program to another within the same event, to one additional team only, regardless of level. An athlete CANNOT compete on two teams within the same division. If an athlete crosses on to another program, they will pay the First Entry fee for that additional program's entry, not the crossover fee.

EXAMPLE 1- Suzie competes on JR4 & SRC5 for FC All Stars - she also competes on SR3 for Future Flames: ALLOWED.

EXAMPLE 2 - Liam competes on SR2 & OC3 for FC ALl Stars. He also competes on OC5 & OC2 for Future Flames: NOT ALLOWED.

For the 2016-2017 season, a cheerleader is limited to crossing over to 2 (two) additional cheer teams from their gym per competition. Therefore, an athlete may compete on one team and crossover to two or more teams from the same gym during the competition.

Crossover limitations above do not include athletes that crossover from cheer to dance.

EXHIBITION PERFORMANCES

Requests to exhibition at an FC event must be received in writing by the on-time deadline for the event that a team wishes to compete at. Each request will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.

COMBINING & SPLITTING—  Future Cheer will combine divisions first by size and then by gender.

1. Combining by Small and Large Team Size- If there are fewer than three teams in Small and/or Large in Mini, Youth, Junior Senior and/or Open Divisions within the same Category, Small and Large divisions will be combined. (Example: If there are two teams in Senior Small Pom and five teams in Senior Large Pom, divisions will be combined into Senior Pom).

  1. Small and Large will not combine if it means that a program will compete against itself. (Example: Senior Small Pom and Senior Large Pom teams from the same program will not be combined into one division that would cause them to compete against each other. If a program chooses to register two teams in the same Age, Team Size and Category (like Senior Small Pom), the teams will compete against each other.
  2. When there are 10 or more teams in any Small or Large division, Future Cheer may further split that division by team size, provided a minimum of three teams remain in all resulting divisions.

2. Combining Age and Gender
If there is only one team registered in any Junior, Senior or Open Division within the same category, Future Cheer will combine (in this order), as long as a program is not forced to compete against itself:

  1. Jr Coed with Jr Male, Sr Coed with Sr Male and Open Coed with Open Male
  2. Jr with Jr Coed, Sr with Sr Coed and Open with Open Coed
  3. Jr with Jr Male, Sr with Sr Male and Open with Open Male

Tiny Division - Future Cheer will split the Tiny Division within the same category into Small & Large (as outlined in the grid) if there are 10 or more teams in the division before the split occurs. There must be at least 3 teams in each division once the split occurs.

AGE DIVISIONS-

1. The Division (age) of the team is determined by the age of the oldest competitor.

2. The age of the competitor as of 31st August 2016 will be the age used for competition purposes throughout the 2016-2017 season for all divisions.

CROSSOVERS-Dancer(s) may compete in more than one division and/or category as long as they abide by the age restrictions in all divisions in which they compete.
